LeBron James scored 33 points in a losing effort.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — After flying back to Las Vegas, the Stanley Cup Final resumes tonight with the Washington Capitals on the verge of their first NHL title. The Caps hold a commanding 3-1 lead over the Vegas Golden Knights in the best-of-seven series after dropping the opener. The Golden Knights haven’t lost four consecutive games at any point in their inaugural season.
TORONTO (AP) — Aaron Judge hit a two-run homer and a Giancarlo Stanton hit a home run in the top of the 13th inning as the New York Yankees beat the Blue Jays 3-0. Stanton’s homer was a line drive that was never more than 45 feet off the ground. The Yankees have won seven of their last eight games.
HOUSTON (AP) — The Houston Astros rode a two-run Homer from Evan Gattis and a two-run single from Yuli Gurriel that lifted them to a 7-5 win over the Seattle Mariners. The Astros have scored 118 runs in the seventh inning or later, which tops the American League. Houston had lost three straight games.
ST. LOUIS (AP) — He was a Hall of Famer and a legend in St. Louis. Red Schoendienst (SHAYN’-deenst) died Wednesday at age 95. Schoendienst was a 10-time All-Star second baseman with the Cardinals, Giants and Braves and later managed the Cardinals to 1,041 victories.
